Come and have two days of gentle watercolour tuition with Emma Leyfield of Valerian. With a focus on Summer scenery, Emma will share her tips and tricks for capturing the beauty of the everyday, whether at home or on holiday.

Two Days - Friday 26th July and Saturday 27th July 2024. 10am - 3pm

The hardest part of keeping a regular sketchbook is fitting it into your daily life and routine. I started my first travel journal during a week in St Ives, where the colours of the Cornish coast, local food and galleries spill across the pages. I’ve never stopped. Looking and painting your adventures is the best springboard into visual journaling, while also creating an amazing record of your trip. This two day workshop is an opportunity to immerse yourself in your sketchbook, take away fear of the blank page and receive one to one guidance, while having a wonderful relaxing get away.

Day 1:

* Drawing and painting collections of found objects, eg shells, local flora/fauna to create a visual record of a place without committing to a large scale landscape image

* Illustrating food! Meals shared and vibrant ingredients are one of the best parts of travel

Day 2: * Small drawn motifs and visual maps, Including doors, buildings and curiosities

* A focus on studying landscapes in watercolour and other mediums for travel journals

Course to include:

All materials, your own pocket travel journal to take away on your travels! Tea, cake, and refreshments available all day. Please bring your own lunch.

A personal tutorial focusing on what you’d like to work on.
