“But indeed, I would rather have nothing but tea.”

Mansfield Park, Jane Austen

Tea has been enjoyed in British society since its introduction in the mid-17th Century.

Initially an expensive treat, it has now become an absolute store cupboard essential here in England and there is nothing that a cup of tea cannot fix (British fact).

Tea and Embroidery, the perfect pairing

Tea is well-known to calm the nerves and the mind, perfectly enhancing a relaxing stitching session.

Our subscription will explore and celebrate a wide variety of tea blends, incorporating anything from wreaths of chamomile and lavender (inspired by sleepy tea) to swags of rosemary and sage (to protect against negativity).

A playful and whimsical subscription, as well as stitching our trademark florals you may find yourself stitching an intricate tea label, a floral teacup or even, perhaps, a chick in a teapot come Easter time. Huge cakes, mini buntings and tea shoppe illustrations are all fair game for this subscription - the designs each month will be a surprise.

This will be our 9th year of subscriptions and we have become well-known for our soft and muted colour palette, simple stitches and effective techniques that will enable even the beginner stitcher to produce something of which they are proud. More experienced stitchers will find the projects easily completed in a day or two but we can guarantee that every stitcher will find a moment’s peace and mindfulness each time they sit down to stitch.

Online Tea Parties: join a friendly and welcoming stitching commumity

The subscription will entitle you to join a monthly afternoon tea party (commonly known as an online stitch club) where you are encouraged to meet other stitchers, chat about your projects and, of course, share favourite tea blends and china patterns!

Finishing Options

At The Stitchery, we firmly believe that the journey is more important than the destination and each piece of embroidery is designed purely for its beauty and enjoyment. As a record of our work here at The Stitchery we will be adhering each embroidery to a piece of cotton rag paper and storing it inside an old tea caddy for a surprising and enchanting display on our chippy dresser. (Subscribers will be provided with the cards and fusible web to do the same - start searching for the perfect tea tin!)

Worked in a similar harmonising colour palette, every piece of embroidery will work well with others from the series and can be used as individual cushion covers, framed pieces or even quilt tops. Customers previously have kept their embroideries in a fabric journal which also works beautifully (we will provide a fabric journal tutorial and pattern free for all subscribers).

Worldwide Stitchers

In order to keep on top of creation and despatch deadlines, we are only offering our 2026 subscription kits to a limited number of stitchers on a first come, first served basis. Annual subscriptions are open now, offering good savings. Following annual subscriptions we will open a limited number of monthly subscriptions in January triggering your automatic monthly payment.

We are encouraging all subscribers to use their own threads and fabrics for this project (our designs will use high quality and easily obtainable DMC threads) and so we would request that digital download subscriptions are purchased if possible. There is the option this year to add a one-off delivery of antique linen at the beginning of the year to provide for all 12 designs.

We hope you can join us as we look forward to another beautiful year of stitching together.
